Little things

When talking of the little things, or style and presentation issues, essentially we are talking about editing for inconsistencies and mistakes in grammar, punctuation, case, tense, sentence construction, word choices, formatting and layout. These are issues that hinder stylistic clarity.

Even though in a business document little things are less important than big picture issues, they can become a big problem when there are so many of them, that they cloud over the document’s main purpose and message.

The Business of Writing Online Program begins with four courses that teach you how to plan and write well structured, audience-focused documents in less time than before. You learn about the Planning Model that shows you how to plan any document in less than 10 minutes. You also learn to write effective introductions and closings, and how to write with tone in mind. The way that each course is structured into lessons makes scheduling time for learning easy. For some lessons, all you’ll need to set aside is five or 10 minutes, while for others you’ll need a little more time. Importantly, you don’t need huge chunks of time set aside to work through the program. And even if you do need to exit a lesson before you finish, the next time you access that lesson, you will automatically be taken back to where you left off.
